Shadow
Shadow was my lifelong dream come true. Everything I wanted in a beautiful loving beast.... my Shadow. It's hard to believe that I saw him before he was born, but in actuality, I did.
I saw an x-ray of his mother's womb, and I could see where he was positioned - in what order he'd be born. I was captivated. He captivated me from the moment I laid my eyes on him.
I've owned dogs before that became champions, but Shadow was my first "home-bred" champion. He was the one that I would defeat. I would defeat because I suck at showing, though I wanted so desperately to share that bond - that teamwork - with him. After putting my ego aside, I realized that the best way to be a team was to invite a third party into the mix.
And what a dream he was to show - for anyone. He was a push-button showdog. Pass the lead, take him in, take care of business, and that's that, jack (if only I had put my ego aside long before, we could have had a longer show career together, but lesson learned).
On a side note, it might surprise you to know that I am truly a photophobe. I absolutely HATE getting my picture taken. They always come out really bad - unless I have my true love with me. There's no mistaking the true love of a gentle giant that steals your heart and makes you smile from your toes.
In the ring and in my heart, he was a champion.

Though Shadow has moved on to Rainbow Bridge in 2006, I was blessed by
God Almighty to receive three straws of frozen semen the month before he
left me. This precious gift is only available to ONE proven fawn or
brindle bitch with a lineage and foundation befitting this beautiful
boy.
Shadow has a beautiful pedigree going back to well-known danes from breeders such as VonShrado, Lagarada, Mountdania, Von Raseac, Reann, and Sheenwater. For those interested in a detailed ancestry of Shadow going back to the 1900s, visit Nuttree's Ancestry Index, a tremendous resource of the history of the Dane today.
Shadow offers a wonderful temperament and a healthy color-pure fawn/brindle pedigree. A solid mover, he was 34" tall, weighed 147 pounds at show weight, and had dark eyes, full dentition, and a full mask.
He was whelped on 8/4/99 and is the son of Int'l Ch. Nuttree's Sierra Snowdancer ("Sierra") and Am/Can BIS BISS Ch. Lagarada Reach For The Starz, CGC, AOM Westminster 2002, Top 20 Winner - 2002 ("Rocket"). Shadow's finishing judge remarked that he could tell Shadow was a Rocket son. Shadow is OFA Good, Heart Normal (Cardiologist), Eyes CERF'd, Thyroid Normal (2.1) and vWD Normal (78). Additionally, both Sierra and Rocket were screened with the above mentioned health clearances. Check Shadow's Health Results at www.offa.org and enter his AKC# WP93123109. For serious inquiries, I have all copies of his health certificates and a color marked pedigree.
If you've read this far, you can only conclude how important health is to me before breeding. Shadow passed away at 6-1/2 years of age to kidney failure. A battery of tests to determine the cause of the kidney failure were inconclusive. I stressed the importance of the origin of his sudden illness to my vets due to his potential for future litters. No reasons were discovered for the cause of his death, but I have concluded that his death was due to poisoning from the combination of flea control products used in the yard and on him.

Breeders that I will consider will have a strong knowledge of their dog's pedigree, a goal for their breeding program, a commitment to find quality pup homes, and a plan should any pups need to be rehomed. Additionally, the potential bitch will need appropriate health certificates.
